📰 AI Industry News
The most important developments in the AI and software development ecosystem.

The Browser Company just dropped Dia, their new AI-powered web browser, now in invite-only beta for macOS and current Arc users. It’s built on Chromium and comes with a built-in ChatGPT-style assistant that lives right in the URL bar and sidebar. It can check out your open tabs, browsing history, and even your logged-in accounts to help with stuff like summarizing articles, drafting emails, comparing products, and more, all using a flexible “skills” system designed for different tasks.
Meta is going all-in on AI after its LLaMA models didn’t exactly blow anyone away. They're dropping about $15 billion to buy nearly half of Scale AI 💰, a big player in data labeling that helps train AI models for companies like OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, and even the U.S. military. As part of the deal, Scale’s 28-year-old CEO, Alexandr Wang, is jumping over to Meta to head up a new Superintelligence team, where he'll bring on about 50 top engineers to work on building AI that could one day match or beat human-level thinking 😅.

Netlify has released the official Netlify MCP Server, built on Anthropic’s open-source Model Context Protocol. The Netlify MCP Server gives agents direct access to the Netlify API and CLI. Agents can now create projects, deploy applications, and manage infrastructure using natural language prompts 👍.
Mistral just rolled out Mistral Code, a slick AI-powered coding assistant aimed at large companies. It packs four in-house models—Codestral, Codestral Embed, Devstral, and Mistral Medium, right into your IDE (JetBrains or VS Code). The cool part? You can run it fully on-premises or in the cloud, with full customization and enterprise-level controls like audit logs, role-based access, and fine-tuning on private codebases.
Major tech companies like Visa, Reddit, DoorDash, and cybersecurity firm Snyk are now explicitly requiring "Vibe Coding" skills in their job listings 😎.

Developer Maor Shlomo just sold his 6-month-old, bootstrapped Vibe Coding startup, Base44, to Wix for a cool $80 million 🤯. Wix made announcement.

In his post AI Changes Everything, Armin Ronacher talks about how AI is totally changing the way he works and lives. Even though AI hasn’t made him code a lot faster, it’s freed up about 30% of his time by handling boring or repetitive tasks. He compares this shift to huge past changes like the invention of electricity, basically, we’re in the middle of a once-in-a-generation kind of revolution.
OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman says we’ve basically already crossed the point of no return with AI and are heading into what he calls a "gentle singularity, where AI keeps getting more powerful, but in a way that just feels like a natural part of life, not some crazy sci-fi movie. According to him, by 2025 AI will be doing real thinking work, by 2026 it’ll start coming up with actual insights, and by 2027 we’ll start seeing useful robots in action 🤖.
The article by Gergely Orosz and Addy Osmani takes a look at how AI agents, basically smarter, more capable versions of today's AI models, are starting to change the way software is built. These agents can handle tasks like writing, testing, and maintaining code on their own, but they still need a human in the loop.

Missed the AI Engineer World’s Fair (June 3–5, 2025 in San Francisco)? It was the biggest tech conference for AI engineers, with around 3,000 folks — from founders to VPs and developers — and about 150 talks. Good news, all the sessions are now up on YouTube.

Andrej Karpathy, ex-Tesla AI lead, breaks down how AI is changing software as we know it. He introduces “Software 3.0”, coding with natural language using large language models, and explains why this shift is a game-changer for the future of tech.

Yoshua Bengio, one of the most respected minds in AI, is seriously worried about where the tech is headed. As AI models get closer to acting on their own, he warns they’re already learning how to deceive, cheat, and protect themselves. Based on his research, he shares a bold plan to keep AI in check and make sure it helps people, not takes over.

Learn how to give AI codegen agents direct access to the Netlify API and CLI. Agents can now create projects, deploy applications, and manage your infrastructure using natural language prompts.
